Artist Statement
I like to say that I am a color connoisseur and playfully refer to myself as a paintbrush magician, because that is how I feel about painting, it is magic. It enchants the senses. I am drawn to light and color and try to capture their power. I have an open ended intuitive process. I go with the flow and paint what feels right in the moment. I like to watch the painting emerge.
I want to create beauty and share it with the world. I have a strong desire to express myself through painting and I believe that we can make the world a better place through love and beauty. I like to notice the good in life and celebrate it.
I believe there is nothing more beautiful than nature. I try to paint outside daily. Because of this, I have a lot of small plein air works to offer for sale. I price them to be affordable so that many people may own original works of art. I also enjoy working in the studio and exploring materials and processes. It is here that I make art from my imagination and reference photos. I play with composition and color to create pieces that are bold and dramatic and sometimes unexpected.
My heart is strong. It has been broken into a thousand pieces and fused back together again. Leaving it more. Full of compassion, understanding, gratitude and love. I have experienced the heartbreak of losing a parent to suicide, the diversity of traveling the globe and the overwhelming joy of giving birth. My experiences have taught me what is truly important in life. That we all matter. That our value lies within, from our integrity and our grit.
Artist Bio
Sarah Brice is an emerging artist, working primarily in oils. She blends figurative painting with loose intuitive marks capturing her subject in vibrant transparent layers and bold brush strokes, evoking movement and expression.
For as long as Sarah can remember, she has been drawn to art. As a child, she spent countless hours staring at the paintings in her home. She was mesmerized by the knowledge that humans could create such beauty and yearned to follow suit.
That inspiration took her to Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colorado where she earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business Administration with a Minor in Fine Arts.
After college, she discovered the Montessori Method and earned her Montessori Teaching Certificate. After teaching a few years, she began her own business Quality Montessori. For the following decade, she worked full-time running a successful business, creating and selling language materials.
In late 2023, Sarah decided to finally pursue her passion for art. She enrolled in the Milan Art Institute and began painting every day. She graduated in mid-2025 and has embraced expressive oil painting. She enjoys painting loose and is inspired by Abstract and Impressionist artists. She has also grown to love painting outdoors in Plein Air.
Sarah now resides near a grassy lake, with her loving family, in Fort Collins, Colorado. She takes daily walks in nature for inspiration, plays piano to keep her mind sharp and gardens for the joy of it. You can often find Sarah in her studio, with music blasting, and an array of paint-filled brushes scattered absentmindedly about the room, as she fully immerses herself in the painting process.
